Whilst the use of tasers by the police has been the subject of debate in France, this box generating electric shocks is authorised in the majority of American states. It is still, however, prohibited in others such as the state of New York, New Jersey or the city of Baltimore. The company Yellow Jacket has made its business out of incorporating it as a function in its range of smartphone shells. Already developed for the iPhone 4, this case combining different options is now available for the iPhone 5, 5S and the Samsung Galaxy 4.
On the one hand, the Yellow Jacket case retains its primary function of avoiding screen or telephone breakage if case of falls. On the other hand, it is equipped with two functions enabling the protection to be transformed into an emergency battery for the smartphone. Thus, the one contained in the case takes over when the dedicated option is activated, prolonging the telephone battery's life. But, the major specificity of this product is the presence of a removable taser. By disarming the two security features on the shell and pressing the "trigger", it delivers a paralysing electric shock, more powerful than the previous version. In addition, the device retains reserve power for taser use, even if it is used as a second battery. They will be sold exclusively in the United States from next March, at a price of 149 dollars.
