Appear Here is an online marketplace specialized in short-term retail space. The company was launched two years ago by Ross Bailey. Back in summer 2012, Bailey was looking for a shop to rent for a few days, in order to sell the line of limited edition t-shirts he designed for the Queen's Diamond Jubilee. His 'Rock and Rule' apparel collection was a success but some people also came in only to know more on the way he was able to rent that kind of ephemeral locations. That's how Appear Here was born, to enables anyone to "find an empty space, share an idea and start a story".
Two years later, Appear Here has worked with thousands of brands, it offers numerous locations and Bailey launched his new 'In Residence' concept this autumn with the British fashion retailer: Top Shop. Oxford Circus store in London is the company's flagship. With over 100,000 sq ft in Central London and a million visitors each month, the store now shares its high profile exposure with small start-ups as well as famous brands, therefore offering its customers the opportunity to discover designers and events.
As Ross Bailey explains: "This partnership marks the start of Appear Here In Residence, a new wave of global retailers giving independent brands the chance to place themselves in front of a substantial and relevant audience. In Residence also gives big names like Spotify the opportunity to create an innovative experience for the consumer that totally changes the way their brand is currently perceived." Since Top Shop's main location was listed on Appear Here this September, "over three years' worth of demand for space in the store has been registered".
