At the current time, a collection of nine new shops are scheduled to be built on the site, which can be found on the corner where Limes Avenue meets Uttoxeter Road. In order to make way for the cluster of new shops, the litter has already been cleared and the surrounding area is being given a facelift. This formely unloved part of the city is scheduled to become a vibrant urban meeting point where people from all over Mickleover and beyond while be able to indulge in a little retail therapy and unwind for a while.
The new area will feature a mixture of outlets of popular chainstores and independent shops. The precinct is planned to consist of two floors, which will include public restrooms and other conveniences for shoppers.
Its has been predicted that the new shops and other businesses in this area of Derby will generate around forty fulltime and partime jobs. In order to accommodate the shoppers that will be arriving in the area, a large modern parking lot will also be created close by, which will generate further jobs. As more people area attracted to Mickleover, it is believed that the shopping precinct will attract further retail outlets and other types of businesses to the area.
Mickleover is one of Derby’s largest suburbs and can be found to the west of the city. The suburb comes complete with its own football club as well as a university campus. The the very heart of Mickleover are several pubs as well as a small collection of shops, while the area also features a large branch of Tesco.
