Small, compact and easy to transport, the Minipresso from the Wacaco company presents itself as an alternative to normal or capsule coffee makers, which need plugging in. Like the piston coffee maker invented at the start of the 20th century, it works using the pressure principle. Having placed coffee in its compartment and added hot water, you only need to unlock its semi-automatic piston and pump.
The brand's site states that a ristretto coffee is obtained by pressing 13 times on the piston, an expresso 18 times and a double expresso 28 times. Whilst one of the models accepts capsules, you can't choose the brand as only the Caffitaly brand is suitable. However, there are several versions with different hot water capacities. With delivery planned for the beginning of 2015, the Minipresso is sold at 49 dollars (around 38 euros) on the company's e-shop.
