Last summer, the Italian chocolate factory,Napoleone in Rieti launched a new and somewhat original product in its range of spreads. Generally flavoured with nuts and chocolate, this spread incorporates beer selected by Claudio Lorenzini of the brewers, Alta Quota Of Cittareale. There are two versions of "Birra Spalmabile", with more or less strong tastes but both composed of 40% beer. With the same model, the two companies have also invented the "Peperoncini Spalmabile" with pepper and beer.
Whereas the more adventurous will spread it directly on their bread, the two artisans recommend trying it with more or less fresh cheeses, depending on the chosen version, like a wine jam or onion confit. The spread can also be used in cakes, antipasti, tarts or to fill pasta. On the price side, the 280 gramme pots are sold for around 7.90 euros.
