Aldi invested no less than £35m to provide us with wine delivered to our door, isn't that great? Well, to be honest, it's not just the wine delivery service that cost so much. The German discounter wants to appeal new customers and the company invested a lot in order to offer an online shopping service in the UK. The service is intended especially for shoppers who don't leave near an Aldi store, even though the company has plans to open 83 new stores this year, in addition to the 630 locations they already have.
The updated website was inaugurated a few weeks ago, along with the possibility to have wine by the case delivered at home, or picked up at a CollectPlus service store. More than 90 wines can be purchased, including online exclusives, in-store bestselling bottles and mixed cases. The delivery service is available in England, Scotland and Wales but not in Northern Ireland. It cost £3 per delivery under £50, there is no charge for orders over £50. The delivery option is due to be further extended to all kinds of non-food products around this Spring.
