Timpson’s modern primary activity is shoe repairs, and the chain of stores was founded in 1865. Although they began trading as a shoe retailer and a shoe manufacturer, by 1903 they had branched out into shoe repairs – this formed the groundwork for their current collection of outlets. Alongside their regular branches in shopping centres, they have also identified a niche by opening up as a concession in major supermarkets, and customers can leave their items to be repaired while they shop.
